Since humans first sat around fires telling stories to create culture, to teach, reveal history, explain spirituality, sustain families, provide comfort, and build peace oral storytelling continues to offer transformative experiences. These transformations manifest as greater understanding of self, family, neighbors, and strangers;  improving relationships in communities and nations; in new knowledge and information; by insights, revelations, and delights.

Skywalker Payne applies knowledge and experience gained from work as a writer, performance artist, community organizer, and registered nurse to provide a unique and comprehensive approach to the art of oral storytelling. She offers transformative storytelling workshops and performances in the four following areas.  Click on the links for more information on topics and themes.

We were pleased and proud to host your performance, “The Wish of a Woman,” at the Freedom Center. Your performances embraced the Center’s mission of linking stories from the past with contemporary freedom struggles and your passion for storytelling kept the audience enraptured. I look forward to working with you again in the future.
